Class A State Girls Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet Preview

The top three jumpers from last year's state meet are back. Leading the way is 2017 third place finisher Christie Woodside of Hampden who jumped the 5th best effort in state history to finish second in the EMITL Chmapionship last time out. A year ago Woodside who is headed to Colby College in the fall jumped 16-9 at the state meet.

Emma White of Cheverus was the runner-up a year ago with a jump of 17-2 1/4, this year she enters as the second seed with a best of 16-10 1/4. White won the senior division long jump at SMAA's jumping 16-3 1/2.

Defending state champion Mia Taranko of Thornton Academy missed a good portion of the season as she recovered from an ankle injury. She put together her best jumping of the season at the SMAA Championship where she won the junior division with a leap of 16-7, her best jump of the season.

Edward Little's Lauren Berube is the third seed she has a best of 16-8 1/2 on the season. She hasn't competed since January 12th, so it remains to be seen if she can return to her previous levels. Berube was fifth a year ago.

Scarborough's Madison Marinko is a returning scorer, she was sixth a year ago jumping 16-3, and enters with a best of 16-4.

The field is very deep with 11 girls having jumped over 16 feet on the season.
