Scarborough sweeps Class A state meets Derek Veilleux Feb 10, 2009

Scarborough Red Storm swept the Class A State titles this afternoon in Gorham. For the Red Storm girls it was their 5th straight title, Edward Little was the runner-up. On the boys, Scarborough won its first title in Class A, and their first since 2001. Maine State Indoor Championships: 8 new state meet records MileSplit Staff Dec 31, 1969

A total of 8 state meet records were set between the Maine Class A & Class B State Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Scarborough track program swept the Class A state titles, while the Waterville girls and Greely boys claimed Class B crowns in Maine. Some of the top individual performances in Class A included a successful trifecta by Brunswick's Kristin Slotnick in the 55, 400, and 200 meter dash races and freshmen dominating the distance races with Cheverus High School 9th grader Fiona Hendry clocking in at 5:10.99 for a victory in the mile run. At the Class B Meet, Shelby Tuttle leaped to state meet records in the long jump and triple jump as well as helped lead Waterville High School to the team crown. A meet record performance in the 200 meter dash from Nate Martin as well as a 1:58 indoor 800 win by Mark McCauley were some of the top performances by the Greely boys. Read more...
