Hi everyone!
This season went by so quickly! It feels like it was just a few weeks ago that I was getting ready for the New Years Relays at USM. Even though it feels as if that meet in December just happened, there were countless amounts of things that went on from then until now to make this season so great. I can’t even express how happy I am to have such kind competitors. The number one thing that made each meet so enjoyable was being able to socialize with kids and even coaches from other teams. I’ve gotten to know more and more people each week, and have made some good friends from doing so. As for the coaches, I’ve really met some people that I can trust with helping me improve for the future, and I am beyond thankful for that.
Another thing that has made this season so great is my teammates. My team is so small that it can be difficult to find people to run and workout with, but this year most of the sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers, and 800 runners worked out with me. It was a great feeling watching some of my teammates improve from week to week. I am super proud of each of them, and it’ll be fun working out with them again in outdoor.
I can’t believe states are over. Everything I’ve been doing all year was for that meet in particular, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out. Competing this year felt so different compared to last year. Records weren’t really on my radar last year, I was just going to do my best and hopefully win an event or two. Of course I felt the same this year; winning was my priority over any record. However, I knew that if I was feeling good and nervous enough, I had a good chance of setting state records. I have to say I was probably most happy about my 7.17 in the 55m. Mostly just because it’s my favorite indoor event, and it ranks me #2 in New England.
As for what’s next, there’s New England’s coming up. Last year going into New England’s I went into it thinking I was just going for the experience and the competition. This year, however, I’m hoping to place in the top three in the 55m and long jump. It’s unbelievable what some of these girls are running and jumping, but I’m so excited to go and compete against them. I hope everyone had a great indoor season and I hope to see everyone in outdoor!
