Cheverus takes top spot at Westbrook Relays

Behind 8 event victories the Stags show they are the top team in SMAA.

The Cheverus Stags showed top quality along with great depth to take the top spot at the Westbrook Kiwanis Relays on Friday evening. The Stags won 8 events on their way to 116 points. Scarborough took 2nd with 99, while the Trojans of Saco were 3rd. Cheverus ran 3:28.9 in the 4x400m relay to close the meet out, the time was a new state leading performance. Elijah Yeboah of Cheverus in the 300m hurdles ran 40.1, which is a new state best time. Also another top race was the 4x100, where Cheverus notched the top time in Class A 44.6.

Other top marks came in the discus where Jared Bell of Deering threw 164-8. In the shot put state leader David LePauloue (TA) threw 49-8 1/2, Scarborough's Mike Pino threw a personal best 47-9 1/2, a mark which moves him the state #2 in the event. In the pole vault Kevin Manning (Scarborough) jumped 12-6 to match the Class A lead in the event.

Thornton Academy was the 3rd place team, they won the Shot Put & Discus relays, as well as the 3x800m racewalk and Sprint medley

 

 

Scarborough placed 2nd overall, the Red Storm won the 4X1600M & DMR, while adding another win the pole vault
