Hall wins the 100m in a meet record 11.69! Antenico Martin runner-up 46-9 1/4 All-time Maine best in triple jump, Nick Danner runner-up in Javelin

In the finals, Kate Hall blew the field away to win her first outdoor New England title as she blew away the field in the 100m with a wind legal 11.69, the time is a meet record. In the trials Hall had the crowd oohing and aahing as she blitzed a 11.73, a far superior time to the rest of the trials. Hall was the runner-up in the long jump 19-0 3/4, breaking her Maine all-time best. Hall ended her day with another podium finish as she won section 4in the 200m in 24.89. The time is the fastest any Maine girl has run over the half lap distance. This is the third Maine all-time best mark the sophomore has set in 2013.

Jared Bell of Deering unleashed a personal best throw of 58-10 to win the NE title in the boys shot put. The Princenton bound senior was the Class A indoor & outdoor champ this year, and was All-NE in the shot indoors. Bell also placed 4th in the discus earning ALL-NE honors, his best throw was 172-0

Jared had this to say about his performance today

Antenico Martin of Traip Academy set a new Maine all-time best in the triple jump with his runner-up 46-9 1/4 jump. The old record was 46-5, set by South Portland's Scott Sawyer back in 1991. Martin also jumped 6-3 in the high jump for an 8th place finish.

 

Nick Danner of Waterville was the runner-up in the javelin with a 187-2 effort. Matt Cushing of Cheverus also earned All-New England honors with a 6th place finish, Cushing headed to West Point threw a best of 178-2

Isaiah Harris of Lewiston continued his amazing postseason run in the 800m. The sophomore who had a pr of 1:58 2 weeks ago, ran a smart race going through the 400m in 54, and moving well over the final 200m to finish 2nd overall in a new personal best 1:53.35. The time is just .55 from the Maine all-time best mark of 1:52.80. Harris's confidence is growing in the event, he ran a 1:54 in the 4x800 relay also earlier in the day. Also scoring in the 800m was Jamie Ross of Brunswick, Ross finished 2nd in section 3, running a smart race, he was rewarded with a personal best and school record ofg 1:55.16, his efforts earned him ALL-NE honors in 6th.

Will Shafer of Gray New Gloucester ran a strong race in the 1600m to finish 4th overall. Shafer ran a smart race moving up after a slow first lap, and running tough with the leaders throughout the remaining 3 laps.  Shafer's time was 4:18.17. Out of section 2 Josef Holt-Andrews took the win in 4:19.55, a personal best and good for 6th place overall.

Junior Jade Canak of Erskine Academy had a breakthrough day in the girls triple jump. Canak jumped 37-0 1/4 to finish 4th to earn All-NE honors for the first time. The distance is also the top jump in Maine for 2013, the only jumper to get over 37ft too.

Shelby Strickland of Kennebunk finished in a tie for 4th in the high jump, Strickland the Class A champion cleared 5-3.

Denzel Tomaszewski of Wells had a great start in the 100m finals, he wound up 5th in a close race, his time was the second best of his career, 10.87

Dan Curts of Ellsworth ran a personal best 9:15.9 in the 3200m, the effort was good for 5th overall.

James Campbell of Cheverus ran a personal best 49.93 good for 5th overall in the 400m dash.

Tom Reid of York was impressive in section 2 as he ran to a an easy win, his time 39.54 was a huge personal and state leading mark. His run was good enough to finish 5th overall

David Frederick of Orono cleared 14-3 to finish in a tie for 6th place in the pole vault.

Senior Gwen Sawyer of Greely earned a spot of the podium in the shot put with a 39-10 1/2 performance, good for 6th.
