True runs personal best 7:36.59 in Reiti, fastest American of 2013

Ben True of Saucony ran a personal best 7:36.59 for 3k in Reiti, Italy on Sunday competing in the IAAF World Challenge . The time was a personal best in the event by almost 8 seconds (7:44.40), it was also the fastest 3k by an American this track season. It also ranks True as the 10th fastest American ever at 3k.

The race was won by Edwin Soi of Kenya who clocked 7:36.53. Soi had previously run 12:51 for 5k this outdoor season, he also recently finished 5th in the 5k at the World Championships is Moscow.

The race caps another strong season for True that saw the former Greely HS standout set a personal best at 5k (13:11.59) along with the 3k today. Ben narrowly missed making the world championship team in both 5k & 10k, he finished in 4th at the US Championships in both events.
