This fall at MaineTrackXC we will feature "The SB Report". "The SB Report" will feature power rankings of the top 10 girls & boys teams, as well as individuals in the state. The author of the blog Sam Bonsey, has contributed to MaineTrackXC in the past and we are glad we can share his thoughts on the 2012 XC season. Bonsey is a former XC/track runner from Falmouth HS, and is currently a journalism student at the University of Maine. Check out his writing each week this fall.
Week 1 Rankings: Girls Individuals (Click to view full post)
1. Kirstin Sandrueter Greely
Previous: 1 Meet: Home Place: 1st Time: 18:46
Sandrueter simply dominated on her home course as she cruised to a fast time of 18:46. Her time would have placed her seventh in the boy’s race. Sandrueter’s next race is at Lake Region on Friday.
2. Aleta Looker Ellsworth
Previous: 4 Meet: Ellsworth Invitational Place: 1st Time: 19:35
Looker cruised to an easy victory on her home course as she stopped the clock at 19:35. It was enough for a 30 second victory. Looker will next compete at the Presque Isle invitational this Saturday.
3. Shannon Conley South Portland
Previous: 3 Meet: SMAA Relays Place: 2nd Time: 9:45
Conley placed second at the SMAA Relays covering the 1.5 mile course in 9:45. She looks poised to have another tremendous year. South Portland heads Cheverus on Friday where she will face off against Kiera Murray.
4. Kiera Murray Cheverus
Previous: 7 Meet: SMAA Relays Place: 3th Time: 9:55
Murray placed third at the SMAA Relays running a time of 9:55. Cheverus is host to several teams on Friday which includes South Portland’s Shannon Conley. Expect those two to duke it out for the win.
5. Mary Szatkowski Bonny Eagle
Previous: 2 Meet: SMAA Relays Place: 4th Time: 10:02
The senior from Bonny Eagle had the fourth fastest time at the SMAA Relays running 10:02. Bonny Eagle heads to McAuley on Friday where she should go unchallenged.
