This fall at MaineTrackXC we will feature "The SB Report". "The SB Report" will feature power rankings of the top 10 girls & boys teams, as well as individuals in the state. The author of the blog Sam Bonsey, has contributed to MaineTrackXC in the past and we are glad we can share his thoughts on the 2012 XC season. Bonsey is a former XC/track runner from Falmouth HS, and is currently a journalism student at the University of Maine. Check out his writing each week this fall.

Most Improved Female Runner in the State
Previous Winners
2012: Tiana Thomas Waterville
2011: Laura Broderick Kennebunk
1. Angel Waters Massabesic
SB: 19:05
Waters is the winner of the Tyra Collette Award for most improved as we saw her emerge as one of the top runners in the SMAA this fall. Her hard work during her high school career has transformed her from a sub 27 minute 5k runner, to one of the most feared runners in the West as we saw her place seventh at the Class A state meet. To put her performance in perspective, last year she was 23rd overall. She had a great run at the Manchester Invitational back in September as she placed 14th running a time of 20:16. She continued to improve as the post season came along as she placed seventh at the Class A Western Regionals running a time of 20:21.40. Look for Angel Waters to run some very fast times on the track in the winter and spring.
