2013-14 Indoor Track Event Previews: Long Jump
Class A
5 of the 7 state meet scorers are back from 2013. Leading the way is last year's runner-up Andrew Smith of Thornton Academy. Smith has the top returning jump of 20-9 1/2 inches, he was also 4th in the outdoor state meet
South Portland's Duncan Preston was 3rd a year ago in state meet to go along with his runner-up finish in the shot. Preston is one of the best athletes in the state and capable of popping a big jump. Preston jumped his personal best 20-2 1/2 at the state meet
Ben Michaud, a teammate of Preston was on the podium in 5th a season ago. Michaud had a best of 19-11 1/4 last year, he also added a 9th place finish outdoors.
The other returning scorer is David Gerard of Massabesic who was 7th.
All returners who meet the state qualifying mark of 19-0

Only 2 state meet scorers are back this winter so there is plenty of opportunity for new faces on the podium.
Old Town's Charles Moody was 4th last year winter jumping a personal best 19-8 1/4, he finished 12th in the outdoor state meet.
The other returning scorer is Waterville's Jordhan Levine who placed 5th, Levine had a best jump of 19-7 1/4 last indoor season.
Watch for Sacopee Valley's Ryan Moulten who jumped 19-9 3/4 last winter this is the best returhing jump from last year. He jumped 20-8 3/4 outdoors for 6th in the Class C state meet
Also Dylan Hapworth of Winslow is one the keep an eye on, he returns with a 19-5 best.
