MRC Performance of the Week: Jon Gray, Hany Ramadan & Alexandra Pettaway

Pettaway, Gray & Ramadan take honors

 

Alexandra Pettaway of Thornton Academy had a strong indoor debut last weekend as the junior competing in her first indoor track meet of her career notched wins in the 55m & triple jump. Pettaway ran 7.68 in the 55m which is the #2 time in the state just .01 behind Messalonskee's Amanda Knight. She also added a Class A leading 31-11 1/2 in the triple jump Alexandra who suffered a serious knee injury last year is ready to take her game to another level this winter. Pettawat received 37 of the 82 votes cast this week

The voting was heavy for the boys performance of the week, in the end the award went was shared between Gorham's Jon Gray & Deering Hany Ramadan. Gray of Gorham ran the 800m, and dominated the race. Gray a junior clocked 2:04.79 which won his race by 22 seconds, his time is the fastest in the state this winter.

Deering junior Hany Ramadan made a positive impression in his first meet in Maine. Ramadan a junior transferred from Virgina. Hany raced his way to a 52.16 in the 400m, a fast early time & state leader, and he followed that up with a blazing 23.68 for 200m, another state leader. If his first meet was any indication Ramadan will make a name for himself quickly.
