How the top 12 teams fared

Boys

1. Scarborough - won the SMAA Relyas with ease

2. Falmouth - went 1-4 in their opening WMC meet at Twin Brook

3. Massabesic - was the runner to Scarborough in the SMAA Relays

4. Mt Blue - lost by 2 points at home to Messalonskee

5. Cape Elizabeth - lost to #8 York 24-49 at Wells

6. Windham - finished 4th in SMAA relays 1 secind behind #9 Gorham

7. Lewiston - won duel meet against EL

8. York - Looked great in a 24-49 win over #5 Cape this is a top 4 in the state without a question

9. Gorham - Was 3rd in SMAA Relays

10. Hampden Academy - won opener in KVAC with 18 points

11. Brunswick - eeked out a 54-55 win over Maranacook

12. Merriconeag- scored a 37-39 win over freeport at NYA

 

Girls

1. MDI - was just 4th at Ellsworth Invitational ran without Dacorte and Strong

2.  Falmouth - was 2nd to Greely in WMC opener losing 24-32

3. Cape Elizabeth - continued to show they are a top team with a 22-40 over York

4. Yarmouth - cruised to a win at NYA

5. Massabesic - won the SMAA Relays by 5 seconds over Scarborough

6. Brunswick- lost 37-52 to a strong Maranacook team

7. Orono - dominated the Ellsworth Invite taking down #1 MDI

8. Westbrook - were 4th at SMAA relays running w/o #3 & #5

8. Windham- were just 8th at SMAA Relays

10. Scarborough - big showing at SMAA Relays finishing 2nd, 5 seconds behind #5 Massabesic

11. Hampden Academy- impressive opening win over Brewer & Bangor

12. John Bapst - just 5th at Ellsworth Invitational

Scarborough boys & Massabesic girls open up with wins at SMAA Relays

The SMAA Relays marks the official start of a new year in Class A West! After a few preseason invitational’s, the league met up for its annual 1.54 mile showdown today at Thornton Academy.  Scarborough’s Jacob Terry and Gorham’s Anna Slager were the top finishers on the day with Terry covering the course in 7:41 and Slager running an impressive 9:10.
