Michael Aboud continued his impressive senior season with a dominating win on an incredibly challenging Windham course Friday afternoon. Aboud led his fellow senior teammates, Andrew Mongiat and Remington Gaetjens to a 1-2-3 finish on route to a 25-47-52 win over Windham and Westbrook. There was little doubt from the gun as Massabesic used their pack to take control of the race early. Ben Breton of Windham and Saad Zackaria of Westbrook rounded out the top 5. Aboud’s time of 16:58 was 7 seconds ahead of teammate Mongait and was also a course record (brand new course). Massabesic will head into the Festival meet flying high as one of the top 5 teams in all of Maine after a outstanding first half of the season.

The Massabesic girls also dominated competition, claiming 5 of the top 7 spots and scoring 25 points against a Westbrook team that was riddled with sickness. Maquila Dimasrantonio led the way with a 3rd place finish with Wasina, Ducharme, Morrison and Drew not far behind. Gabbi Pabst and Halee Phelps of Westbrook went 1-2 for the second week in a row, to help the Blazes to a second place finish. Pabst’s time of 21:09 was a new course record on the tough 2.99 stretch, with Phelps just off the record at 21:10. With several key runners feeling the bug, Freshman Emma Sperry stepped up as Westbrook’s #3 beating several Eagles down the stretch, to help hold of Windham on their home course 51-58. McAuley rounded out the team scoring with 101 points. Massabesic put their top 5 within 21 seconds of each other, and go into The Festival meet red hot.
