Weekend Highlights: Kate Hall 20-1 1/2 US #1 LJ

Kate Hall of Lake Region broke another Maine all-time best at the University of Southern Maine fieldhouse this afternoon as the senior broke the 20ft barrier for the first time. Hall who entered the meet as the US#1 in the event with her 19-7 3/4 effort from the Rhode Island Classic, extended her US leader with a new Maine all-time best jump of 20-1 1/2.

On jump #2 of the evening Hall hit the big one "I've been wanting it for a year now and the pieces finally fit into place tonight. When I saw the measurement I started crying I was so happy". Don't expect this to be it for Hall, she said her landing wasn't great on the record breaking jump and that she jumped 19-11 on her final attempt and wasn't even on the board. What the next goal, "Well one day at a time, but once I get my landing figured out I think I could jump in the upper 20s".

The mark by Hall is the #2 all-time in New England history moving her closer to the all-time mark of 20-2 3/4 by Arantxa King. Another impressive stat, she is the Class B leader for boys & girls!

In the 2 mile freshman Luke Laverdiere went negative, with a 5:00 first mile followed by a 4:47, to run a state leading 9:47.79, the mark is the #2 time in the country for freshman.

In the mile, Mitchell Morris of Cape posted a huge personal best with his Class B leading, 4:31.85, the time is ME #2.

York's Tucker Corbett ran Class B #2 in the 400m with his 52.37 winning effort.
