NCAA recap: Geoghegan helps Ducks to title, Ruginski repeats in TJ, Black wins 800m

D3- Ruginski repeats as Triple Jump champion, Mitchell Black wins the 800m

USM's Jamie Ruginski saved his best for last, the defending national champion found himself in second place with one jump remaining in the competition. Like any champion he dug down and was able to put out his best jump of the competition as he leaped 49-0 1/4, the effort was good enough to jump ahead of Chris Perry of Bridgewater St into first place. The win gave Jamie his second straight indoor title, and the last 3 triple jump titles including outdoor. The most decorated track and field athlete in school history has shown he performs at his best when the pressure is on.
