Chuck the spear: Bouchard sets all-time Maine best 199-4

With the way Jack Bouchard ended his 2014 outdoor track & field season it's no surprise he's started off his 2015 season even better than he left off a year ago. A year ago that success included an undefeated regular season, culminating in a Class B state title with a personal best 186-8, and then a podium finish at the New England Championship with a fourth place finish.

On Friday at the opening Western Maine Conference meet held on his home track at York, HS, Bouchard put himself into the record books with his winning throw of 199-4. The mark surpassed the nine year old record of NYA's Michael Moody (198-10) and improved on his personal best by 12 feet 8 inches. The 199-4 throw ranks Jack as the 12th best in the country as of Monday May 4th.

"My success really comes from the hard work I've put in and also the experience I've been able to gain over the past two years. My coaches are also to thank!, Bouchard said about his new personal best

What can the record mark be attributed too? "I try to hit the gym a few times a week but mostly it's the technique work. I worked a lot this past summer on technique with my coach.

His summer work with was done with the Somersworth High School, New Hampshire head coach and while at York, Chris Jones has coached him in the javelin.

What's next for Bouchard with the rest of the season in front of him "Well now I think 200 is a reasonable goal so I'll go for that."
