The Orono girls rolled to their 4th straight Class C outdoor title as they amassed 132.75 points, an impressive 81 points ahead of runner-up Traip Academy.

The Red Riots were led by Lauren Stoops who won the 100m in a quick 12.50, then followed that up with a 46.95 clocking to win the 300m hurdles, she wasn't done winning though as she crossed the line in the 200m in 26.24 for a third individual victory. Stoops then closed the meet out with a leg on the state meet record breaking 4x400m relay. Orono broke their own 11 year old record of 4:09.55 with their winning effort of 4:08.09.

Hannah Steelman provided Orono 10 more points with her 5:24.76 effort in the 1600m. She also ran a leg on the winning 4x800 relay and then went on to finish third in the 3200m. In the pole vault Allison Pickering would add another win for Orono as the junior cleared 8-6 for the victory

Mattanawcook sophomore Tia Tardy broke the state meet record of 2:18.24 in the 800m as she stopped the clock at 2:16.34, this was her second title in a row after winning as a freshman. Tardy would add another title in the 3200m with her 11:39.10 winning effort.

North Yarmouth Academy senior Muriel Adams broke the Class C state meet record with a state leading distance of 128-7, the mark broke 26 year old mark of Angel Tibbets of Boothbay.

Yarrmouth's Emma Egan had a big day on her home track as the junior won the high jump with a seasonal best and state tying 5-5 clearance. Egan would add a second place in the 200m (26.63) plus a third in the 100m (12.92) & a fourth in the long jump (16-10).

Kylene DeSmith of Seacoast Christian had a pair of wins on the day as she started with a 15.80 clocking in the 100m hurdles to win by just .04 seconds over Katie Cotton of John Bapst. In the triple jump a personal best 37-1 1/4 to win the title by just under three feet. In addition to the two individual titles she finished third in the 300m hurdles & long jump to score 32 points in the meet.

The Orono boys ended an 18 year drought as they captured the Class C state title scoring 88 points to outdistance last years winner Lisbon by 23 points.

Individually Orono got individual championships from Tristan Butterfield in the 800m (2:02.01) & Jake Koffman is the discus (137-9).

Koffman provided more points with his third place finish in the shot put, and a 7th in the javelin

Sprinter Fredrik Linden was the runner-up in the 100m dash, plus added a 6th in the 200m. Hurdler Keenan Collett scored 8 points with his second place finish in the 300m hurdles, and added a third place effort in the 110m hurdles.

The Red Riots got 30 points from sweeping the 4x100, 4x400, & 4x800m relays.

Oak Hill's Drew Gamage set the Class C state meet record with his 45-9 1/2 leap to win the triple jump. The mark broke former mark of 45-5 1/4 set by Ethan Wardell (Orono) back in 1993. Gamage added a runner-up finish with a 6-0 clearance in the high jump, and scored 5th in the long jump.

Traip Academy junior Evan Porter had a pair of wins taking the 100m in 11.28, then coming back to clock a state leading 40.08 in the 300m hurdles. Porter added a runner-up finish in the 110m hurdles.

Judson Smith of Foxcroft ACademy repeated as the high jump champion with his 6-4 clearance, then added a second title by running 15.62 in the 110m hurdles. He added a runner-up finish in the long jump (20-7 1/4)

Eric Hathaway of MCI was the surprise winner in the shot put as the senior entered the competition as the 5th seed with a best rthrow of 49-0 on the year, Hathaway's winning effort was 52-7 1/4 besting his teammate Curtis McLeod by 2 1/4" for the title.

Cole Butler of Limestone/MSSM won the javelin with a toss of 171-9 to win his second straight state title, last year he won the Class A title as a sophomore at Edward Little.
