MileSplit Athletes of the Year 2015

Boys Thrower of the Year
Bobby Colantonio (Junior/Barrington, Rhode Island)

Bobby Colantonio had a stellar senior teammate to model himself after in Adam Kelly, the three-time New Balance Nationals champion ('14 indoor weight throw, '15 indoor weight throw, '15 outdoor hammer throw).

Colantonio placed runner-up in nearly every indoor weight throw to Kelly: New Balance Nationals Indoor, Rhode Island State Championship, Millrose Games... He did not truly contend with Kelly, now a freshman at Princeton, until the spring with a state record-setting throw at the Classical Classic -- his 243-7 hammer throw ranks No. 7 on the U.S. All-Time List, just ahead of Kelly's No. 8 All-Time 243-1. The duo traded wins throughout the outdoor season, with Colantonio winning their last dual to take the title at the USATF Junior Nationals. He went on to win the USATF National Junior Olympics later that summer and place fifth at the IAAF World Youth Championships.

Honorable Mention: Adam Kelly, Willie Morrison
