Koch runs 2:03.58 at Mt Sac Relays

Cedarville sophomore Carsyn Koch won section 2 of the Mt Sac Relays on Saturday in a lifetime best 2:03.58 for 800m, her previous fastest effort was her 2:05.21 to win the D2 National Indoor title. Koch's outdoor personal best was 2:05.21 from last year's outdoor national championship.

Koch didn't mess around in the race as she led through the first 400m of the race, setting a fast pace of 60.31 for the first 400m. Rose-Anne Galligan of Ireland seized the lead at the bell, and led for the next 300 meters before Koch found another gear of the home stretch and pulled away for the victory.

Notably the US Olympic Trials qualifier in the 800m is a 2:03.0, which Koch is now just over a half a second away from. She ranks #20 in the US this year for all indoor/outdoor marks, they will take the top 32 entrants to compete in the US Olympic Trials later this summer.

Currently Koch's time is the top D2 time in the county by almost 5 seconds. (Rankings from TFRRS.ORG)
