Koffman preps for NB Nationals
Orono junior Jake Koffman has been the best discus thrower in New England this spring, and this weekend he will travel to North Carolina to compete in the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. Koffman would won the New England title on Saturday throwing 174-10, will be looking to surpass his winning throw at the Class C State Championship two weeks of 189-10. His throw at the state meet not only broke the state meet record, but better his own Maine All-Time best of 186-3 thrown during the regular season.
Koffman who competed in the emerging elite discus at NB Nationals year ago placing 7th with a throw of 147-3 enters the compeition with the 34th best throw in the county. Jake is the 11th seed for those entered in the championship section. He will be joined by Class A State Champion Austin Lufkin.
Koffman will throw at 2pm on Sunday.
We caught up with Koffman during his practice at Orono High School on Tuesday afternoon as he preps for the Nationals.
