The last three races for Tucker Barber of Mt Blue have been like hitting a grand slam to win the world series.

Barber has hit it out of the park the last three weeks, and come away the winner each time.

It started with his surprise win at the KVAC Championship, followed up by his first sub 16 performance to win the Northern Maine Regional a week ago and culminated with his victory on Saturday at the Class A State Championship where he ran the fastest time on the day, 15:47.33

"He doesn't realize what he's done." Longtime Mt Blue coach Kelly Cullenberg commented.

Barber tucked himself in the lead pack that was 10 deep at the mile, and bided his time. When the runners emerged from the woods section he was at the front, pulling away from a talented field.

"This is what I've been doing, so I figured why not go all in." Barber said of his mid race move.

The move proved to be the decisive one as only Cameron Meirer of Mt Ararat was able to keep it close.

"I was terrified that Cam was in second." Barber speaking of Meirer's big kick.

Barber crossed the line 15:47.33, a 10 second personal best from a week ago, and the fastest time on the day. Meirer gave a valiant effort to finish second, the senior clocked 15:51.22, his best time ever by 24 seconds.

Meirer had a great close to his season as he placed 11th at KVAC, 5th in Northern Maine, and 2nd in the Class A State meet.

Falmouth senior Jeremiah Sands held off a fast closing Paul Casavant of Hampden Academy for third place, Sands time was 15:59.32 while Casavant's was 15:59.41.

Sophomore Wyatt Lord was the top underclassmen with his fifth place effort of 16:08.39.

Two freshman had strong runs with Mt Ararat's Lisandro Berry-Gaviria finishing 10th in 16:27.38, while Scarborough's Connor Coffin was 15th in 16:33.53, both advanced to the New England Championship meet next weekend.

In the team race it was all Falmouth as the Yachtshmen tallied 72 points to finish 44 points ahead of runner-up Deering.

Falmouth was paced by Sands in 3rd but all got strong runs from John Auer in 11th & Connor Piers in 12th but it was senior Ben Wyman's 18th place 16:43.31 effort that was the difference maker. Wyman came into the meet with a personal best of 17:03. Alex Kinley rounded out the scoring 5 for Falmouth in 36th spot.

Falmouth, along with Deering & Windham advanced to the New England Championship meet as teams.
