Orono boys & George Stevens girls top of Class C, Dill win girls individual title, Hassett repeats on boys side

Orono senior Kassidy Dill seized the lead early on in the race and never looked back.
Dill opened up a 6 second gap just 800m into the race, coming up the super highway that lead stretched to ten seconds.
The lead would continue to extend as Dill increased it to 18 second at 2 miles.
"I really didn't have much of a race plan today." "I knew what splits I wanted to hit for the first and second mile but it was more bringing our pack up to go for the state championship, it was more a team goal today." The senior said post race
Dill would close it out crossing the line in 19:29.97, a 15 second margin of victory. "I would give up everything individually for our team to win." Dill commented.
With the win this marked the third straight individual title for Orono (Hannah Steelman in 2014, & Tia Tardy in 2015)
Behind Dill it was junior Eliza Broughton of George Stevens Academy who ran 19:44.07. The time was a new personal best by nine seconds. Teammate Zeya Lorio was next across the line in third.
Olivia Skillings of Maine Coast Waldorf ran 20:00.28 to finish fourth, she was followed by Mary Richardson of GSA in 5th, Richardson time was 20:05.
With three runners in the top George Stevens Academy tallied 52 points to knock off defending champion Orono by 9 points. GSA got the low sticks from Broughton, Lorio & Richardsonm then it was Mary Brenna Catus in 22nd followed by Tess Williamson in 24th to round of the scorers.
This was the first girls state xc title in school history for GSA.
