Despite placing only one runner in the top 8, the Maranacook Black Bears were victorious at the KVAC Class B Championship behind a strong pack of runners in the #2-#5 spots, Maranacook was able to place their remaining scorers in places 14th-22nd, which gave them a 14 point victory over runner-up Medomak Valley. Justin Greely (Jr.) was the top runner for the Black Bears. The individual race was an easy triumph for Erskine Academy junior Sam Seekins (17:05), as he raced to a 25 second advantage over runner-up Patrcik O'Donnell (Medomak Valley). O'Donnell was the top runner for 2nd place Medomak, who had 2 runners in the top 7, the other being Alex Goldrup (7th). Many of the same teams will face off again next weekend, although Lincoln Academy & Maranacook will compete in the Western Maine regional.

In
a close battle which saw the top 3 teams seperated by just 9 points, the Medomak Valley Panthers were victorious as they held off Leavitt by just 2 points, and Maranacook by 9. Medomak was led by Gwen Moiles (5th 22:11), had just one runner in the top 12, but showed great pack strength with runners #2-#4 in places 13th-16th, although #5 runner Erika Knustson proved the difference as she was the top #5 runner for any team by a wide margin. Leavitt the runner-up was led by Laura Dacyczyn (4th place), had two other runners finish in the top 11. Maranacook the third place team was led by the 1-2 finish of Abby Mace & Taylor Burr. Mace the individual winner, shattered the course record by a wide margin, running unchallenged to a 19:24.9 victory, good for a 1:49 margin of victory over her teammate Burr. The same teams will battle again this weekend, minus Maranacook who heads to Twin Brook & the Western Maine regional.
