Westbrook's Nyagoa Bayak finished 9th in the girls championship high jump clearing 5-5 as she just missed all-american honors in the event.
Bayak also set a new state leading mark in the triple jump with a mark of 37-2 1/4. That effort placed the sophomore 13th overall in the emerging elite competition. That jump moves her one spot on the all-time Maine list to 7th best of all time. Her mark just missed the Maine sophomore best mark of 37-4.
In the boys emerging elite 2 mile Paul Casavant finished 7th in section 2 and 10th overall with a seasonal best and state leading 9:27.42.
Sophomore Jason Montano of Thornton Academy threw 49-1 1/2 on his first throw in the boys emerging elite shot put to finish 27th.
All New England long jumper Emma White of Cheverus jumped 17-0 to finish 19th in the emerging elite long jump.
Class A shot put champion Daija Misler of Hampden Academy threw 38-0 3/4 to place 17th in the girls emerging elite competition
Katherine Leggat-Barr of Greely ran a strong effort in the girls 5k championship race as she placed 18th overall clocking 18:22.4
The Scarborough boys 4x200m finished 4th in section 6 of the boys emerging elite race. They ran 1:32.40, the 4th fastest time in state history. Overall they finished 28th out of 43 teams.
Hampden Academy senior Johann Bradley cleared 13-9 3/4 in the emerging elite vault, that clearance placed him 26th.
John Hassett the Class B 800m state champion finished 18th in the merging elite 800m running 1:59.79
