62-2, Matt Brady moves to Maine #2 All-Time Shot
The shot put circle at Biddeford high school certainly isn't a fast circle, and combined that with a throwing area that is significantly uphill after 50 or so feet makes Matt Brady's 62-2 effort even more impressive.
The UCONN bound senior entered the competition with a personal best of 58-10 thrown a week ago added over 2 feet with his winning effort on Thursday. The mark is the tops in the state, and he becomes just the third Maine high school boy to throw over 60ft during the outdoor season.
After a strong warmup that saw him with several throws in the high 50's, he unleashed his best throw on his second attempt to move into second place among the best throwers in state history. The throw currently ranks #30 in the nation.
