Salute to Seniors: Sebastian Osborne (Scarborough High School)

Name: Sebastian Osborne

School: Scarborough High School

What was your most memorable competition?

My most memorable competition was Indoor 2017 SMAA's when I was seeded 3rd going into finals and winning the competition on my last throw.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

I would have to say Xavier Mills of South Portland, him and I have been going head to head for all four years we've been competing against each other.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment is breaking 50 feet for the first time at the Class A State meet.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your throwing career in high school?

I would have started weight lifting sooner and I would've learned the spin a lot earlier as well. That way I could've been more competitive throughout the state before my senior year.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The biggest obstacle to over come were my nerves before meets. In past years before every meet I would get too nervous to the point where I would lose my form and not throw correctly.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss competing for Scarborough and the amazing coaching staff they have.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

Always take advantage of opportunities for training. Every training session puts you closer to your goal.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

My coaches have taught me that confidence is everything in the sport. Without confidence nothing can be accomplished and that goes for almost any and everything in life.

What are your college plans?

I will attending the University of Maine and I plan on competing in shotput and discus there as well.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to say thank you to all of my competitors and teammates over the years for helping me become the thrower I am today. Another thank you to Coach Damon, Coach Veilleux & Brian Woodbury for instilling the confidence in me to become a 50 foot thrower.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Never put off training, everyday you train when your competitors aren't. You get better.
