Cape Elizabeth junior Jack Bassett is the top returner from the 2017 Class B Boys State Championship, he clocked 17:04.86 to finish third a year ago. Bassett placed 4th in the 3200m in the outdoor state meet, and ran best of 4:39.6 & 10:14.8 outdoors.
Chasing him will be Lincoln Academy senior Sam Russ who guided his team to the team title in 2017. Russ placed fourth running 17:11.12. He had a very strong outdoor season that saw him run 4:34.93 for 1600m and 10:06.11 for 3200m.
Waterville's Nick Dall is always a threat, after recovering from a injury most of last xc season expect Dall to be ready to push even harder in 2018. The senior finished 5th in the state meet a year ago running 17:14.19.
Junior Jarrett Gulden of Lincoln Academy was 6th a season ago. Gulden ran a very strong 17:15.45. Outdoors he ran 2:03.96 for 800m and 4:39.15 for 1600m, placing 3rd and 5th respectively at the Class B state meet.
