The top ten returners from 2017 are all back which should make for a very competitive state meet if all stay healthy in 2018.
Leading the pack is defending champion Sofie Matson of Falmouth who had a tremendous freshman campaign that saw her go undefeated against Maine runners. She was the only one to break 19 minutes at Twin Brook a year ago with her winning effort of 18:41.60, 37 seconds better than runner-up Augusta Stockman.
Speaking of Stockman she teamed with Grace Iltis to lead the Camden Hills Windjammers to the Class A team title in 2017, the duo finished second and third respectively in the state meet. Stockman went abroad in the spring, and Iltis has been recovery from an injury that cost her the outdoor season. If they return to form they might be the best 1-2 in the state.
