While the Girls race in Class C saw an old familiar friend, Orono, take the team title, the boys race saw a brand new champion as Maine Coast Waldorf won its first title ever, dethroning two time defending champion, Orono. Maine Coast Waldorf ended with 72 points, while Orono tallied 88, they were followed by Maranacook (105) , George Stevens (110) and Boothbay Region (119).
Matinicus Neveu (8th 17:39.09) followed closely by Aiden Kusche (9th, 17:43.66) led the team effort, the remaining scorers for Maine Coast Waldorf were Max Waldron (18th), Finn Dierks-Brown, and John Miles Muenten (38th).
At the front of the pack, claiming his second consecutive Class C title was Henry Spritz of Waynflete. His run in 17:03.87 was just a shade off his best mark and by virtue of taking the Class Title, he earned a trip to New Englands in Manchester, two weeks hence. Mark D'Alessandro took 2nd for St. Dom's in 17:18.96. Other top ten runners included: Luke Barnes of Sumner Memorial (3rd), Luke Bartol of Maranacook (4th), Will Perkins of Boothbay Regional (5th), Lisbon's David Schlotterbeck (6th), Travis Hunt from Narraguagas (7th), and taking the final medal, Gabe Fein of Maranacook.
Spritz had established a seven-second lead by the first mile with Bartol of Marancook trailing and Lisbon's Schlotterback not far behind. The eventual runner-up D'Alessandro of St. Dom's was running fifth at the mile mark. At two miles D'Alesandro had moved into second and look comfortable. Among the top ten finishers the only change from two miles to the finish line was Sumner's Luke Barnes moving from 6th to 3rd as he established a new personal best.
Once the champions of each class are determined the entire meet is rescored and the three remaining fastest teams also qualify for New Englands; qualifying on points were Bangor, Brunswick, and Greely. These teams will join the other class winners, Scarborough in Class A, and, York in Class B, along with Maine Coast Waldorf in Manchester NH on November,10th. In addition the individual champion from each Class qualifies, along with the 22 other fastest individual times from the rescored meet. As Champion, Henry Spritz qualified for New Englands. No other individual male runner from Class C qualified.
