Maggie Parrish | Logan Price gain victories while Greely earns one point win over Falmouth boys

Ideal conditions at Twin Brook for the Falmouth, Lake Region and
Greely tri-meet. Temperatures were cool and comfortable, no wind and
the trails dry.

The girls race set out at 4:30pm with Maggie Parrish and Erin Morris
of Falmouth taking the early lead. The pair hit the mile mark at 6:42
and the two-mile at 13:45, separating themselves quickly from a pack
of Molly Ryan, Emily Rand and Francesca D'Alfonso of Falmouth and
Melissa Jacques and Marissa Goding of Greely. This pack stuck together
through two miles before Ryan, Jacques and Rand separated heading back
into the A-loop for the final mile. At the finish it was Parrish in
21:28 winning by 11 seconds over Morris. Ryan rode a strong last mile
to third in 22:09 with Jacques 20 seconds later. Rand and Goding came
cross the line only a second apart followed by a pack led by Isaacson
of Greely. D'Alfonso came through in eighth, clinching a 19-42 win for
Falmouth. Lake Region was led in 14th by Eldridge in 24:10. Longtime
rivals Falmouth and Greely will square off again next week as the
Rangers seek revenge on the Gray-New Gloucester trails.

The boys followed up with a classic Greely-Falmouth duel like so many
others over the last decade. Greely overcame a tight Falmouth pack for
a one-point win led by senior XC standout Logan Price. Price took the
early lead followed by sophomore Tim Follo of Falmouth. The two led
throughout, chased by junior Sam Johnston of Greely. Price hit the
mile in 5:10 with Follo chasing in 5:18. The Falmouth pack of Tom
Edmonds, Eric Hemphill, Charlie Swerdlow and Conor McGrory as well as
Greely's Sam Humphries were chasing Johnston at that point. The
standings stayed the same with through two miles with Humphries
stalking the Falmouth pack and soph Stefan Sandreuter closing in. The
finish was a close one in the team standings but Price took a healthy
win in 16:53 followed by Follo in 17:25. Johnston was a clear third
before the fireworks started. Humphries powered past the Falmouth pack
on his home course, a huge swing in momentum for the Rangers. His
4th-place finish was big as he was chased to the line by Hemphill,
McGrory and Swerdlow of Falmouth. Sandreuter made a little-notice but
essential move to take 8th by four seconds over Edmonds of Falmouth.
Although Falmouth had the next three finishers, Jacob Emery of Greely
closed the deal with a 13th-place finish for the one point win over
the Yachtsmen. Lake Region was led by Knudsen's 20:00 finish in 18th.
Greely looks strong varsity runners Mark Macauley and Connor Regan
sitting this one out. With four more matchups on the schedule, this
should be another great competition.
