Salute to Seniors: Marin Provencher


Name: Marin Provencher

School: Greely High School

What was your most memorable race/meet?

Probably during indoor during my sophomore year when I ran 5:27. This was kind of the moment I realized that I some potential.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

I have been able to run against some incredible people and competitors over the past four years including people on my own team and others in the Western Maine Conference who I'd see every week.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

Either the 2019 outdoor mile or the 2020 indoor mile, both were fun races that played out similarly.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your xc/track&field career in high school?

I wouldn't change a thing as it has led me to where I am now.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Luckily I didn't face any major obstacles other than the occasional plateau which makes for a fun exercise in mental toughness.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss the Maine running community because there truly is nothing else like it.


What advice you would give to younger athletes?

Be consistent with your training but be able to adapt if necessary.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

My coaches have consistently pushed me to be a better runner and person and shaped me into who I am today.

How do you feel about missing your senior season due to the coronavirus?

I wish I could have had it, but I'm happy with what I was able to do in high school so far.

What are your college plans?

I will be attending Saint Anselm College studying nursing and running cross country.
