Maine MileSplit #1 Ben Greene of Falmouth and #4 Zach Barry of Scarborough got together for a 3200m at the Westbrook High School track on Saturday morning. Paced by members of the Dirigo Racing team Greene and Barry didn't want to waste their fitness after the state meet was canceled on Monday.
The pace was solid throughout as the pacers took them through 800m in 2:21-22, and the mile 4:44-5. Greene would blast a sixty-five-second final lap to stop the clock at 9:30, while Barry followed with a 9:38. Greene's high school official best is 9:41.61, while Barry's mark is 9:56.89 for 2 miles indoors.
The duo said they hope to compete in a 5k on the track next Sunday in New Hampshire to close out their fall racing season.
