EMITL Girls shot put finals podium

" I am very happy with the outcome of the championship. I'm proud of all the other girls, and I'm glad to say I got my season's best at this meet! I look forward to staying consistent with our training and get in the weight room more and I cannot wait for spring season to come." Lavoie told Maine MileSplit.

Bangor senior Maxxwell Smith improved over four feet over his previous season-best mark in the shot put to take first place with a personal best 47-8 1/2 mark, the throw is the top throw in the state this winter.
"It was an awkward season, we only got a couple of weeks of practice, and having missed last outdoor season I came in rusty. I was fouling all my throws and I could only count on my standing throw to stay in. As I got a little bit of practice in it started coming together and the one throw at that meet was the best technical throw I had done. I'm hoping to get it down consistently during outdoor and I'm shooting for the moon." Smith told Maine MileSplit
Mt Desert Island senior Archer Hill recorded the second-best throw of the season with his runner-up effort of 45-5 3/4 while Jacob Smith posted a personal best 41-10 1/4 to finish third. Another Brewer Witch was in fourth as Dylan Greenlaw tossed it 41-3 for his first time over forty feet. Old Town's Duane Tibbetts scored a fifth-place mark with his 40-7 1/4 effort and Ethan Harkins of MDI rounded out the podium finishers with a 40-1 toss.
