Salute to Seniors: Jacob Ramos (South Portland HS)




When and how did you get into track and field?

Started in 8 grade. My friends convinced me to do it.


Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

Zach Barry and Chris Walton.


What was your greatest accomplishment?

Shattering the South Portland High School record in the 800M for outdoor. Placing third at New England's.


How has track and field impacted your life?

I've met my best friends here and as an athlete I've accomplished things I thought I couldn't do.


What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Juggling both swim and running over the years.


How do you prepare for competitions?

Eating healthy and hydrating leading up to a meet


Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of track and field?

Swimming.


What influence has your coach had on your high school career?

He's been supportive of me for all 4 years and always believed in me.


What are your college plans?

Cross country, outdoor track and swimming at Husson University.




What are your long term goals?

Stay healthy, keep running and swimming.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

Believe in yourself. You can do more than you think you can.
