XC Countdown 2022: #25 Lewiston Boys

With the calendar switching to August soon we wanted to switch gears from the track to the trails to get ready for the upcoming cross-country season. Athletes around the state are hitting the roads and trails building up a strong base in hopes of a successful cross-country in 2022, with the hopes of lifting the state championship as a team in November the ultimate goal. Our plan is to highlight who we think are the top 25 returning girls and boys xc teams over the next three weeks. Thanks to Cheverus XC/track coach Nick Denari for volunteering his time and efforts to put this countdown together.

Adam Bilodeau led the Blue Devils at the Northern Maine XC Regional last fall.

2022 Outlook:

Lewiston could be very good team in 2022. Coming off of a disappointing 10th place finish at the Regional meet last year, it might seem that Lewiston won't be a contender in 2022, but there are reasons to be optimistic. Firstly, Lewiston was without frontrunner Julien Turmenne in that meet, and he looks to be as strong as ever after running 4:47 and 10:19 for 1600m and 3200m respectively in the track. Second, the Blue Devils will likely add Enzo Giampaolo, who ran 5:09 for 1600m as an 8th grader last year at Lewiston Middle School. If things go according to plan for this roster stacked with seniors, Lewiston should be running at the State Championships come the end of October.
