XC Countdown 2022: #24 Cheverus Girls

Maine MileSplit 2022 XC Team Countdown

With the calendar switching to August soon we wanted to switch gears from the track to the trails to get ready for the upcoming cross-country season. Athletes around the state are hitting the roads and trails building up a strong base in hopes of a successful cross-country in 2022, with the hopes of lifting the state championship as a team in November the ultimate goal. Our plan is to highlight who we think are the top 25 returning girls and boys xc teams over the next three weeks. Thanks to Cheverus XC/track coach Nick Denari for volunteering his time and efforts to put this countdown together.

2022 Outlook:  Cheverus enters the year with a very small core and will need to add some contributors to be competitive in 2022. The Stags graduated some key seniors in Grace Turner and Leska Whitmarsh and also lost a member of their top 7 due to a transfer out of the school. Cheverus will surely have a low stick in senior Annabelle Brooks, who was 4th in Class A last season and is the 2nd fastest returner from that meet. Hamlin and Miller both made big improvements last year and will look to do the same this season. If they can do that and they can get some athletes out for the team, the Stags could end up back at the State Meet again.
