XC Countdown 2022: #22 Maranacook Girls

Maine MileSplit 2022 XC Team Countdown

With the calendar switching to August soon we wanted to switch gears from the track to the trails to get ready for the upcoming cross-country season. Athletes around the state are hitting the roads and trails building up a strong base in hopes of a successful cross-country in 2022, with the hopes of lifting the state championship as a team in November the ultimate goal. Our plan is to highlight who we think are the top 25 returning girls and boys xc teams over the next three weeks. Thanks to Cheverus XC/track coach Nick Denari for volunteering his time and efforts to put this countdown together.

Emma Roesner placed 24th in the Class C state meet as a freshman a year ago for the Black Bears.

2022 Outlook:

Maranacook brings back 5 of their top 7 athletes from a Class C South Championship a year ago. They will look to defend their title and should be in good shape to do so. The Black Bears have a strong top runner in Lina Martinez Nocito who should place in the top 10 at the State level. Their next 4 runners are all underclassmen and should close the door on the scoring before the other teams in the region. To threaten the teams in the North, Maranacook will need some of those underclassmen to make improvements throughout the season.
