XC Countdown 2022: #21 Cony Boys

Maine MileSplit 2022 XC Team Countdown

With the calendar switching to August soon we wanted to switch gears from the track to the trails to get ready for the upcoming cross-country season. Athletes around the state are hitting the roads and trails building up a strong base in hopes of a successful cross-country in 2022, with the hopes of lifting the state championship as a team in November the ultimate goal. Our plan is to highlight who we think are the top 25 returning girls and boys xc teams over the next three weeks. Thanks to Cheverus XC/track coach Nick Denari for volunteering his time and efforts to put this countdown together.

Sam Coffin (399) & Sam Goldey (401) are the top returners for the Cony Rams this fall.

2022 Outlook:

The Cony Rams have the makings of a very solid team in 2022. They bring back six out of their top seven athletes from 2021 and have a tight pack amongst their top 5 returning athletes. These runners should be able to push each other in workouts and races. A duo of Sams will lead the way for the Rams this year, with Sam Coffin being the only senior among the top 7. As such, this could be a team to watch in 2023. This season, look for the Rams to try to improve upon their 2021 finishes, and on paper it looks like they may be able to do so.
