XC Countdown 2022: #15 Caribou Boys

Maine MileSplit 2022 XC Team Countdown

With the calendar switching to August soon we wanted to switch gears from the track to the trails to get ready for the upcoming cross-country season. Athletes around the state are hitting the roads and trails building up a strong base in hopes of a successful cross-country in 2022, with the hopes of lifting the state championship as a team in November the ultimate goal. Our plan is to highlight who we think are the top 25 returning girls and boys xc teams over the next three weeks. Thanks to Cheverus XC/track coach Nick Denari for volunteering his time and efforts to put this countdown together.

Ephraim Willey of Caribou finished 10th in the Class B state meet last fall.

2022 Outlook:

Caribou had a solid year in 2021, finishing 5th in Class B, and the Vikings only lost one runner from that squad. They come into the season with a pair of frontrunners that should both contend for top 10 finishes individually in Class B. Behind them is another pair of seniors that should be able to keep the scoring relatively low. The biggest question mark for the Vikings is who their 5th runner will be. They have a few underclassmen that will try to fill that void and give them a scorer under 20 minutes. If they can do that, they may be able to exceed last year's success.
