XC Countdown 2022: #14 Kennebunk Girls

Maine MileSplit 2022 XC Team Countdown

With the calendar switching to August soon we wanted to switch gears from the track to the trails to get ready for the upcoming cross-country season. Athletes around the state are hitting the roads and trails building up a strong base in hopes of a successful cross-country in 2022, with the hopes of lifting the state championship as a team in November the ultimate goal. Our plan is to highlight who we think are the top 25 returning girls and boys xc teams over the next three weeks. Thanks to Cheverus XC/track coach Nick Denari for volunteering his time and efforts to put this countdown together.

Jet Francis ran the fastest 5k for the Rams last fall.

2022 Outlook: Kennebunk has a lot of reasons to be excited about their potential in 2022. The Rams bring back 6 of their top 7 runners from 2021 and they bring back a total of 17 athletes total from last year. They are likely to have one of the largest and deepest rosters in the state. They should be able to improve on last year's State Championship result solely on the fact that Jet Francis didn't even run at that race in 2021. Add her in and they should be a top 10 team. If any of the pieces behind her improve, then this team can finish even higher.
