XC Countdown 2022: #12 Greely Boys

Maine MileSplit 2022 XC Team Countdown

With the calendar switching to August soon we wanted to switch gears from the track to the trails to get ready for the upcoming cross-country season. Athletes around the state are hitting the roads and trails building up a strong base in hopes of a successful cross-country in 2022, with the hopes of lifting the state championship as a team in November the ultimate goal. Our plan is to highlight who we think are the top 25 returning girls and boys xc teams over the next three weeks. Thanks to Cheverus XC/track coach Nick Denari for volunteering his time and efforts to put this countdown together.

Seamus Raftice will be one to watch for Greely this fall.

2022 Outlook:  Greely High School is a team that all of Class B should look out for this year. The Rangers are coming off a season that saw them finish 4th in Class B, and they return five of their top seven runners from that squad. They have a solid top five entering the season, and Hayden McArthur may be primed to emerge as a frontrunner from that pack after running 4:42 for 1600m on the track in the spring. The Rangers also could add freshman Tait Harvey to the mix. He ran 5:05 for 1600m as an 8th grader at Greely Middle School. If all things click for Greely, they have a shot at the title.
