XC Countdown 2022: #9 York Girls

Maine MileSplit 2022 XC Team Countdown

With the calendar switching to August soon we wanted to switch gears from the track to the trails to get ready for the upcoming cross-country season. Athletes around the state are hitting the roads and trails building up a strong base in hopes of a successful cross-country in 2022, with the hopes of lifting the state championship as a team in November the ultimate goal. Our plan is to highlight who we think are the top 25 returning girls and boys xc teams over the next three weeks. Thanks to Cheverus XC/track coach Nick Denari for volunteering his time and efforts to put this countdown together.

Molly Kenealy is one of the top returners for the Wildcats this fall.

2022 Outlook: York is in position for a very strong year in 2022. The Wildcats bring back only 6athletes total from a year ago, but each has a chance to contribute in a meaningful way. Cary Drake enters her junior year in hopes of an individual title, and Molly Kenealy will set her sights on a top 5 finish. Following those two comes experience in the form of three seniors. A pair of athletes running around 7-minute pace will keep the scoring low for York in the 3rd and 4th positions. The Wildcats will need either Tristen Rohrabacher, Audrey Drennan, or a newbie to step up and try to run with those two. If so, York could compete for the team title in Class B.
