XC Countdown 2022: #1 Bonny Eagle Girls

Maine MileSplit 2022 XC Team Countdown

With the calendar switching to August soon we wanted to switch gears from the track to the trails to get ready for the upcoming cross-country season. Athletes around the state are hitting the roads and trails building up a strong base in hopes of a successful cross-country in 2022, with the hopes of lifting the state championship as a team in November the ultimate goal. Our plan is to highlight who we think are the top 25 returning girls and boys xc teams over the next three weeks. Thanks to Cheverus XC/track coach Nick Denari for volunteering his time and efforts to put this countdown together.

Kallie Warner placed 26th in the Class A state meet a year ago, she'll look to help the Scots to another state title this fall.

2022 Outlook: As has been tradition over the past decade, Bonny Eagle enters the 2022 season as the favorite in Class A. They graduated some all-time greats from last year's squad, but still have some great firepower up front with Addy Thibodeau leading the way for the Scots. She is one of about 5 or 6 runners with a legitimate shot at the Class A individual title. A tight pack of follows her, and Bonny Eagle will likely get their 5th runner across the line before any other team in the state. The lack of a 2nd true standout, however, makes the Scots a little more vulnerable than they have been in past years. Time will tell if they will win their 4th consecutive title (and 9th in 11 seasons) or if another team will knock them off of their perch.
