Last fall Orono sophomore Ruth White set the course record at the Maine XC Festival of Champions with her 17:28.46 winning effort to break the former mark of 17:35.91 set by Sofie Matson of Falmouth. White will be back in 2022 to defend her title, and the chance to lower the course record. In the twenty years of the meet athletes have cracked the 18 minute barrier four times in meet history.
