Anna Conors Sets 200m State Record at BU



Bangor senior Anna Connors made the trip to the track they call the "Launchpad" at Boston University on Saturday to chase a national qualifier in the 200m and potential state record in the event. Connors entered with a personal best of 25.20 and a 2023 best of 25.37. Running in section three out of the preferred lane five, the University of Connecticut bound standout executed a strong start and tore down the back stretch. Connors maintained her form around the oval powering her arms down the homestretch. The clock stopped at 24.36, a new state record surpassing the mark of 24.81 set by former Lake Region star Kate Hall back in 2013 at the New Balance Nationals. The mark also is a senior class record. 


Maine Indoor State Records


The time for Connors was an overall lifetime best improving on her 24.51 from the 2019 outdoor Class A state championship meet, additionally the time is second fastest indoor or outdoor in Maine history. With the run today, Anna qualified for the championship section of the 200m at New Balance & Nike Indoor Nationals meets. Earlier this season she qualified in the 400m running an EMITL record of 57.23.
