The Bangor girls entered the 2023 Class A indoor track and field state championship as the favorite based on the seeded meet the Rams thirty-five point favorites. The winners of the last two team titles Bangor was expected to cruise to win on Monday however the Red Storm of Scarborough has other ideas. The meet had its up and down, but in the end the Rams inched closer in the two mile and then sealed it with an excellent 4x200m relay.
The Rams were once again led by senior Anna Connors who was running on an injured ankle. When her team needed her the most Connors stepped up and won the 200m (25.85) despite another runner (Makenna Drouin) being in her lane for the homestretch. Drouin finished first but was later disqualified for the lane violation. The 10 points where huge at that point in the meet as Scarborough was surging. Earlier in the meet Connors finished as the runner-up in the 400m (58.87), and added a third place effort in the 55m (7.38).

Entering the two mile Bangor held a slim two and half point lead over Scarborough. Senior Sadie Harrow battled hard to the finish line to match her fifth place seed to earn four important points for the Rams to give them a six and half point lead entering the final event.
The 4x200m relay was exciting as the Rams stormed out to the lead through the first three legs before Scarborough's Caroline Fallona had an incredible anchor leg to edge the Rams 1:49.79 to 1:50.10. Fallona's anchor leg was the fastest on the day, a blazing 25.74. The second place finish sealed the victory for Bangor and their third consecutive Class A team title.

Bangor got a win from senior Julia Bassi in the shot put (36-6 1/4), while freshman Sophia Chase added a runner-up leap in the long jump (16-10 1/2). The Rams has several third place efforts, Katie McCarthy in the 800m (2:27.30), Callie Tennett in the 400m (61.67), The 4x800 relay (10:15.07), Samantha Erb in the long jump (16-7 1/4)
The Red Storm of Scarborough were led by senior Caroline Fallona who blitzed her way to a personal best 7.21 to win the 55m dash. She added a runner-up finish in the 200m (26.31), and anchored the 4x200m relay to victory. Sophomore Emerson Flaker surprised with the win the 400m (58.28), added a runner-up in the 55m (7.38) and a third place finish in the 200m (26.41).
Portland sophomore Samantha Moore dominated the mile winning in 5:24.15 closing the race out in a speedy 35.23. Moore came back to notch a second individual victory in the 800m (2:21.56). Additionally Samantha added a 2:22.35 leg on the Bulldogs winning 4x800 relay (10:02.33).
Makenna Drouin of Edward Little repeated as the 55m hurdle champion with a 8.75 clocking. Addy Thibodeau of Bonny Eagle took the 2 mile (11:41.14) her teammate Julia Pendleton leaped 17-2 to win the long jump. Brunswick sophomore Lisi Palmer took top honors in the high jump with a 5-2 clearance while Tayla Pelletier of Windham dominated the triple jump with her 35-6 1/4 personal best effort. Thornton Academy senior Maya Judice set a new personal best with a 10-10 clearance to win the pole vault.
