Several Maine high school athletes competed in the 25th TD Beach to Beacon 10k on Saturday in Cape Elizabeth. Leading the way was Ruth White, a senior from Orono who lined up with the professional woman and more than held her own as she finished 17th overall in the women's race with her 34:56 effort. For the second year in a row, White was the fastest Maine native in the woman's field. The time improved on her 10k best from a year ago of 36:28. White ran her first 5k in 17:21 followed by 17:35 for the second half. On the boy's side of the race, Camden Hills sophomore Sam Tooley took top honors with a strong 35:36 effort. Brunswick senior Ben Klingle held off junior Tim Collins of Hampden Academy 36:42 to 36:47 for the next best Maine high school runners
