Greely Ranger Boys At the Top of Class B

The Rangers of Greely had only one winner on the day however that didn't stop them from winning the Class B team title for the first time since 2018. The Rangers' only win of the day came in the final event on the track the 4x200 relay as the team of Gaelan LuceyCharles PalmlundJonah Guiboard, and Samuel Kim captured the win with a time of 1:35.25 to seal the victory.


Senior Jonah Guibord helped lead the way as he hurdled his way to a runner-up finish in the 55m hurdles with a personal best time of 7.91. He added a fifth-place effort in the 400 (53.97) to add four more points. In the jumps junior Alexander Mendoza tallied 14 points on the day, he scored a pair of third-place efforts in the high jump (6-0) and triple jump (41-5 1/4) plus added a seventh in the long jump (19-11 1/2).


The pole vault was a key event for the Rangers as they scored 11 points thanks to a third-place finish from junior Liam Magoon (12-6) and a fourth-place finish from junior Samuel Anania (12-6). The distance team added a runner-up finish in the 4x800 relay (8:50.36) while William Coull placed fifth in the mile (4:39.29) and Connor Skillin added a sixth in the 800m (2:08.25).

Updated Class B State Meet Records

Miles Burr of Mt Desert Island won the 55m (6.55) and broke the Class B state meet record in the 400m with a personal best of 49.49. The tie broke the 2005 record set by Jimmy Sawyer of Gorham, it is also the third-best time in state history and the fastest flat track time. Burr added a fifth-place finish in the 200m (23.58).


Leavitt junior Stephen Pierre was the top individual scorer in the meet with 28 points. Pierre won the 55m hurdles (7.93) and long jump (21-0 1/4) and added a runner-up finish in the high jump (6-4) where he only lost of misses.

Winslow senior Joseph Richards has an impressive meet which started with a 2:00.51 anchor leg carry to guide the Black Raiders to victory in the 4x800 relay. Richards then finished as the runner-up in the 400m where he ran under the previous state meet record with a personal best of 49.67, the sixth-best time in state indoor history. Richards added a victory in the 200 (23.00).

Sumner senior Kaleb Colson was a double winner as he took the mile (4:33.82) and the 800 (2:01.61). Reece Perry of Freeport won the pole vault with a 13-6 clearance, while Gavin Davis of York took the high jump clearing 6-4. Orono senior Cooper Sawyer won the shot with a toss of 47-10 3/4.
