After running in the footsteps of Ruth White for the past three years Houlton/GHCA senior Teanne Ewings entered the Class C state meet as the favorite.
Ewings set the tone early as she took the lead before entering the woods just after the 800m mark. From there she continued to open a lead as she came out of the woods just after the mile mark with a two-second lead over sophomore Karen Higgins of Boothbay/Wiscasset.
Southern Maine Regional champion Soren Stark-Chessa of Maine Coast Waldorf was running in third about ten seconds off Ewing's pace. Close behind was senior Natalie Johnson of Houlton/GHCA and Clara White of Orono.
