Greely Edges Freeport By 1 Point to Win Class B Girls Title

The Greely girls entered the final event the 4x200 down four points to Freeport. The two teams ran head to head in section six where the Rangers clocked 1:52.15 to finish ahead of the Falcons after section seven was complete Greely was second while Freeport finished six. The final tally was a one-point victory for Greely 72-71. 

Greely got wins from Jacqueline Franklin in the 400m (62.02) which was key as she defeated three girls from Freeport who placed in the top five. Junior Rowan Barry who competed in the Class B XC skiing states in the morning took the 800m in a personal best of 2:16.20.

Sophomore Victoria Zandan added ten points with her win in the 55m hurdles 8.87, she added a third in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump. Katie Spencer won the pole vault with a 10-6 clearance. 

Freeport won in the 4x800 to kick off the meet with a 10:14.86 effort.

The 400m was a key event for the Falcons as they were led by Emma Graham's runner-up finish (62.36), plus Lizalyn Boudreau's third-place 62.68 and Lucy Riggs 63.29 fifth-place finish as Freeport scored 18 points in the event.

Kessa Benner and Brielle Boudreau both cleared 10-0 in the pole vault as they scored 14 points for Freeport.

Miah Jacobs of Yarmouth won the 55m dash in 7.37, while Fryeburg Academy's Avery Bariteau was the fastest at 200m (26.10).

Morse senior Shealyn Brochu used a 34-second last lap to pull away for the victory in the mile (5:04.03) while in the two mile, Teanne Ewings added her second consecutive title with a 12-second win (11:13.39).

Old Town's Elyannah Briggs cleared 5-2 to win the high jump. In the long jump, Easnadh Nobel-To'olo of Orono leaped out to 17-3 3/4 to win the event. While in the triple jump, MDI senior Amelia Vandongen won with a 35-5 effort.

Freshman Alyssa Mason of Poland pulled an upset to win the shot put with a personal best 37-0 1/2 throw. Bucksport won the 4x200 (1:51.03).
