Boys' Sprints/Hurdles

Class A state champion Max Shapiro of Falmouth leads the way. Shapiro's 6.41 ranks him as the second fastest in the field. Marshwood senior Andre Clark was fifth a year ago despite suffering a hamstring injury, he will be looking to return to the podium; he ranks fourth with his 6.42.

Shapiro is the top Maine entrant in the 300m. Running on the banks of the Reggie, he should lower his 36.44, which has him ranked 18th.

Marshwood's Isaiah Perodin leads Maine's hurdle entries, his 7.81 winning effort has him ranked 21st overall.

Class A 55m hurdle champion Tayla Pelletier will be one to watch. Pelletier clocked a personal best 8.46 at states and is the seventh fastest in the field.

In the 300m, Class B 200m champion Avery Bariteau ranks 15th with her converted time of 41.76. Running on a banked track with certainly help the real question is will the extra 100m be too much as she's never raced over the 200m distance. Class A 200m champion Sophia Chase of Bangor is the 17th seed with a 42.08 converted time, she should handle the extra distance well as she won the 400m title this winter as well.

In the 1000m Harrison Dunne of Bonny Eagle is the top entrant from Maine, Dunne clocked 2:00.24 to win the "A" title, that time converted has him ranked 19th however, Dunne has a state leading 1:57.61 effort for 800m this winter which should move him up the list, he has experience in the mile so the extra distance should help him.

Laverdiere is also seeded 23rd in 2 mile.

Margaret Tripp of Thornton Academy, the Class A 2-mile champion, is ranked 11th with her 11:13.06 effort from the states. She broke 11 minutes earlier this season and should benefit from the banks.

Right behind her is Class B state champion and state overall leader Shealyn Brochu of Morse, who ran 5:00.81 earlier this year. Both are contenders to break 5 minutes. Zoe Carroll of York is ranked 12th with her 5:12.60.

Class B 800m champion Rowan Barry of Greely is the fourth seed in the 1000m. The extra distance shouldn't be an issue for Barry as she has run 5:08.19 in the mile this season. Barry's 2:16.20 personal best in the states came after she competed in XC skiing states in the morning. Barry will be fresh this time around and is seeded at 2:59.79. Class A 800m champion Samantha Moore of Portland, the Class A champion, won't be in the fast heat, but she's more than capable of making a podium run on her own. Bangor has the top seeded 4x200 with their winning time from the Class A state meet of 1:50.07, earlier this year they set a new Maine indoor state record of 1:45.88. If they decide to run that team again another record attempt could be in the making.
